Alphachymotrypsin
Indications
Alphachymotrypsin is a proteolytic enzyme that is used in reducing soft– tissue inflammation and edema associated with surgery and trauma.

Composition
Chymotrypsin (Alphachymotrypsin) …………………………..4200 USP units
(equivalent to 21 microkatals)
Excipients s.q. for……………………………………………………………….1 tablet
(Wheat starch, Sucrose, Peppermint oil, Magnesium stearate).
Contra-Indications
Hypersensitivity to Chymotrypsin and any ingredient of the medicine.
Side effect
– Some digestive disorder cases may occur: flatulence, dyspepsia, diarrhea, nausea.
– Mild allergic reaction may occur with high dosage: erythema.
Inform your doctor about side– effects when using this medicine.
Precaution
– Caution should be exercised in patients with inherited bleeding disorder such as hemophilia, bleeding disorder, on anticoagulant therapy, impending surgery, hypersensitivity to protein, peptic ulcer.
– There is no report of adverse effect on ability to drive and operate machinery.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION:
Chymotrypsin should not be used for pregnant women and nursing mothers.
Interaction
– Do not coadminister this drug with Acetylcysteine.
– Coadministration with anticoagulants should be avoided because of potentiation of the anticoagulants effects.
OVERDOSAGE:
Should overdosage occur, turn to the nearest healthcare facility for medical attention of the healthcare professionals.
Shelf life
24 months from the manufacturing date.
Storage
Store in a dry place (RH ≤ 70%), not exceeding 30oC. Protect from light.
Dosage
The tablet may be swallow whole or placed under the tongue until they are dissolved
– Oral dose: 2 tablets, 3 – 4 times daily.
– Sublingual tablet: 4 – 6 tablets/day, in divided doses (the tablet should slowly be dissolved sublingually).
