Indications
– Vaginitis caused by normal susceptible microorganisms.
– Vaginitis caused by Trichomonas, Gardnerella Vaginalis.
– Vaginitis caused by fungal infection, especially by Candida albicans.
– Vaginitis caused by concurrent infection of Trichomonas and yeast.
– Prophylaxis of infection 5 days before or after gynecologic procedure.

Pharmacology
MYCOGYNAX , by its polyvalent formula, is a complete local therapy of vaginitis from various origin: infectious, parasitism or mixed.
Ingredients of MYCOGYNAX:
– Metronidazole : a synthetic nitroimidazole derivative antibacterial and antiprotozoal agent that is effective against Trichomonas, Gardnerella vaginalis and anaerobic bacteria.
– Chloramphenicol : an antibiotic agent that is effective against various causative microorganisms of the vagina.
– Dexamethasone acetate a steroid anti– inflammatory agent.
– Nystatin – an antifungal antibiotic agent.
Pharmacokinetics
A small amount of active ingredients of MYCOGYNAX is absorbed through mucosa and may cause systemic effects, and is mainly eliminated topically.
Contra-Indications
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of MYCOGYNAX.
Side effect
– Rarely, local prickling or irritation during the first few days of treatment.
– Systemic effects : as with all local treatment, absorption of a small amount of the various constituents may occur.
Inform your doctor about side– effects when using this medicine.
OVERDOSAGE:
– Should overdosage occur, turn to the nearest health care facility for medical attention of the health care professionals.
Precaution
– If an allergic reaction occurs, the drug should be discontinued.
– Pregnancy and lactation.
Interaction
The vaginal preparations may render topical contraceptive agents ineffective.
Shelf life
36 months from the manufacturing date.
Storage
Store in a dry place (RH ≤ 70%). Protect from light.
Dosage
Insert the tablet deep into vagina. Before administration soak the tablet in clean potable water for 20 to 30 seconds. After drug insertion, the patient should be in supine position for at least 15 minutes.
– Insert 1 tablet intravaginally once daily for 10 consecutive days.
– It is preferable to be applied at bedtime. It may be combined with systemic therapy if necessary.
Note:
– It is possible to continue the medication in menstruation period
– It is recommended to wash and bathe with neutral or alkaline soap. The underwear should be made of cotton
– Avoid vaginal duches
– Avoid vaginal tamponade during menstruation.
