Contra-Indications
– Hypersensitivity to Penicillins and Cephalosporins.
Precaution
– Monitor priodically hepatic and renal function for long– term treatment.
– Cross– resistance to Cephalosporins.
– In renally– impaired patients, adjust the dosage.
Interaction
– Ampicillin may reduce the efficacy of oestrogen– containing oral contraceptives.
– Avoid combination with Allopurinol because of increased risk of skin reaction.
– Bacteriostatic antibiotics: Chloramphenicol, Tetracyclines, Erythromycin may reduce the bactericidal effects of Ampicillin.
OVERDOSAGE:
– Nervous reactions, even convulsion have been reported when b– lactam concentration in cerebrospinal fluid is high, especially in patients with impaired renal function.
– Countermeasure: Ampicillin may be remove from circulation by hemodialysis, this procedure may enhance drug elimination in cases of overdosage in patients with renal impairment.

36 months from the manufacturing date.
Storage
Store in a dry place (RH ≤ 70%), not exceeding 25oC. Protect from light.
Dosage
Take this drug 30 min before or 2 hrs after meals.
– Adults : 0.5 – 1g/time, 2 – 3 times daily.
– Children: 250 – 500mg/time, 2 – 3 times daily.
