Indications

– Acetylcysteine is used as mucolytic agent in adjunctive treatment of acute and chronic bronchopulmonary disorders, acute and chronic tracheobronchitis.
– It is also used in prevention of respiratory complication in patients with bacteria infection, cystic fibrosis, emphysema.

– Blister of 10 capsules. Box of 10 blisters.

Composition

Acetylcysteine ……………………………………….200mg
Excipients s.q. for ……………………………….1 capsule
(Corn starch, lactose, povidone, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, ethanol 96%).

Actions

Acetylcysteine is a mucomodifier of the mucolytic type and facilitates evacuation of respiratory mucus. Acetylcysteine acts on the gel phase of the mucus by cutting disulfur bridges of glycoproteins.

Contra-Indications

– Hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the medicine.
– Patients with history of asthma.
– Children under 2 years of age.

Side effect

– With high dosage, there is a possibility of gastro– intestinal disorders (gastralgia, nausea, diarrhea). If such events occur, reduce the doses.
– Inform your doctor about side– effects when using this medicine.

Precaution

– Patients with history of allergy should be monitored for the risk of asthmatic attack.
– Caution should be exercised when the drug is given to patients with decreased ability to cough, gastro– duodenal ulcers.
PREGNANCY & LACTATION:
Caution should be exercised when it is given during pregnancy and lactation.
EFFECT OF THE DRUG TO DRIVER OR OPERATORS OF MACHINERY:
Caution should be exercised in drivers or operators of machinery.

Interaction

– Do not take antitussives or drugs which dry up the bronchial secretion during the period of treatment with acetylcysteine.
– Inform your doctor or pharmacist about other drugs you are taking to avoid possible interactions.
OVERDOSAGE & MANAGEMENT:
Should overdosage occur, turn to the nearest healthcare facility for medical attention of the healthcare professionals.

Shelf life

– 36 months from the manufacturing date.

Storage

Store in a dry place, protect from light, not exceeding 30^oC.

Dosage

– Adults and children over 7 years of age: 1 capsule, 3 times daily.
– Children from 2 to 7 years of age: 1 capsule, 2 times daily.
