Indications

Treatment of respiratory tract infections of acute and chronic bronchitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, tracheitis, bronchiectasis. Especially, Broncocef is used to facilitate the expectoration of secretions present in the trachea.

– Sachet of 2.5g. Box of 12 sachets.

– Each capsule Broncocef 508 contains:
Cephalexin monohydrate equivalent to

Bromhexine. HCl……………………….8mg
– Each sachet/capsule Broncocef contains:
Cephalexin monohydrate equivalent to
Cephalexin…………………………….250mg
Bromhexine. HCl……………………….4mg

Actions

Broncocef is a combination of Cephalexin and Bromhexine.
– Cephalexin – a semisynthetic Cephalosporin antibiotic – has bactericidal activity.
– Bromhexine is a mucolytic agent.
Administration of Bromhexine together with Cephalexin is beneficial in the therapy because it enhances the ventilatory capacity in elderly patients with respiratory infections and enhances antibiotic concentration in the lung tissue.

Contra-Indications

– Hypersensitivity to– lactam antibiotic group and Bromhexine.

Side effect

– Nausea, diarrhea, urticaria, headache, fatigue.
Inform your doctor about side effects when using this medicine.

Precaution

– Pregnancy, lactation.
– Patients with gastric ulceration, impaired renal function.

Interaction

– Do not take concomitantly with any other drug intended to reduce bronchial secretion during the period of treatment with Broncocef.
– Concomitant use with Aminoglycosides or Furosemid may cause nephrotoxicity.
– Broncocef may reduce the efficacy of Oestrogen– containing oral contraceptives.

Shelf life

– 36 months from the manufacturing date.
Never use after the expiry date clearly indicated on the outer packaging.

Storage

Store in a dry place (≤ 70% RH), not exceeding 30^oC. Protect from light.

Dosage

– Adults and children over 12 years:
1 capsule Broncocef 508 or 2 capsules/sachets Broncocef x 3 – 4 times daily.
– Children < 1 year : ½ capsule/sachet x 2 times daily.
1 – < 5 years : ½ capsule/sachet x 3 times daily.
5 – 12 years : 1 capsule/sachet x 3 times daily.
