Calci – D
Indications
Used in calcium deficiency, children during periods of rapid growth, pregnancy, lactation, osteoporosis in old age, patients during treatment with corticoids.
Present
Bottle of 100 film– coated tablets.
Composition
Calcium carbonate 750mg (equivalent to calcium 300mg) Vitamin D3 60 IU Excipients sq. for 1 caplet.
Actions
_Calcium is an essential nutrient cation for maintenance of the functional integrity of nervous, muscular, skeletal system and cell– membrane, capillary permeability. The principal biologic function of Vitamin D is to maintain serum calcium and phosphorus concentrations within the normal range by enhancing the efficiency of the small intestine to absorb these minerals from the diet
Contra-Indications
Hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, severe renal disease.
Side effect
– Gastrointestinal disorders rarely occurred (constipation, flatulence…). – At higher doses, CALCI– D may due to hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria including anorexia, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, dry mouth, thirst, polyuria. Inform your doctor about side– effects when using this medicine.
Precaution
In patients with renal insufficiency, renal calculus.
Interaction
Association not recommended: Thiazide diuretic, Digitalis, Verapamil thereby leading to hypercalcemia. CALCI– D reduces the absorption of Tetracyclines, administration should be separated by at least 3 hours.
Shelf life
24 months from the manufacturing date.
Storage
Store in a dry place, not exceeding 30oC. Protect from light.
