Indications

Prevention and treatment of conditions caused by vitamin C deficiency in neonates and children.

Present

Bottle of 15ml. Box of 1 bottle.

Composition

Sodium ascorbate equivalent to ascorbic acid …………………………….1500mg
Excipients s.q. for ………………………………………………………………………15mL
(Sucrose, sodium benzoate, citric monohydrate acid, orange flavor, betacarotene 1%, purified water).

Actions

– CESYRUP is a fortified formulation with high contain of vitamin C and with pleasant scent and flavour of orange that makes it delectable.
– It is helpful in enhancing immune system in children in fighting infections diseases and air– borne communicable diseases transmitted by respiratory route, and simultaneously protect the children against harmful effects of the polluted environment.
– It is helpful for rapid health recovery and wound healing in children.
– It is helpful in supplementation of vitamin C, necessary for formation and maintenance of healthy connective tissues, vasculature, gums, teeth, cartilage, bones,…

Contra-Indications

– Hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the formulation.
– Large vitamin C dosages in patients with glucose– 6– phosphat dehydrogenase deficiency, history of renal calculi, hyperoxaluria, disorder of oxalate metabolism, thalassemia.

Side effect

– GI disturbances: heart burn, diarrhea.
– Hyperoxaluria.
– Inform your doctor about side– effects when using this medicine.

Precaution

– Caution should be exercised in patients with oxaluria.
– Drug tolerance may be induced by large dosage over long period.
PREGNANCY & LACTATION:
– The drug may be given to pregnant and breast feeding women at RDA for such conditions.
– Pregnancy – large dosage of vitamin C during pregnancy may lead to development of scurvy in neonates.

Interaction

– Concurrent administration of vitamin C and aspirin may lead to increased excretion of vitamin C and decreased excretion of aspirin.
– Concomitant administration of vitamin C and fluphenazine may result in reduced concentrations of fluphenazine in plasma.
– Concomitant use of vitamin C and iron preparations at ratio of 200mg of the former to 30mg of elementary iron may increase absorption of iron in GI tract.
– Large dosages of vitamin C may interfere with the absorption and metabolism of vitamin B12.
– In order to avoid possible drug interactions inform your doctor or pharmacist about the drugs you are taking.
OVERDOSAGE & MANAGEMENT:
– Manifestations: symptoms of overdosage include renal calculi, nausea, gastritis and diarrhea. Induced diuresis by parenteral infusion may be helpful after ingestion of large dosage.
– If overdosage occur, turn to the nearest healthcare facility for professional help.

Shelf life

– 24 months from the manufacturing date.
Never use after the expiry date clearly indicated on the outer packaging.

Storage

Store in a dry place, protect from light, not exceeding 30oC.

Dosage

– Supplementation: once daily.
– Treatment dosage: 2 – 3 times daily.
+ Children under 3 months of age: 0.4mL (10 drops)/dose.
+ Children 3 – 12 months of age: 0.8mL (20 drops)/dose.
+ Children 1 – 2 years of age: 1.6mL (40 drops)/dose.
