Indications
Treatment of infections due to Streptococci group A, pharyngitis, impetigo, otitis media… Prophylaxis of acute rheumatic fever, endocarditis, cerebrospinal meningitis.

Composition
Phenoxymethylpenicillin potassium (Penicillin V potassium) 400,000 IU Excipients sq. for .1 film– coated tablet
Actions
Penicillin V (Phenoxymethylpenicillin) is a b– lactam antibiotic and has a bactericidal action against Gram – positive bacteria, Gram – negative cocci, some other gram– negative bacteria, Spirochaetes and Actinomycetes. It exerts its killing action on growing and dividing bacteria by inhibiting bacterial cell– wall synthesis.
Contra-Indications
Hypersensitivity to Pencillins and Cephalosporins.
Precaution
– Caution is necessary in patients with a history of allergy and asthma.
– Therapy should be discontinued if an allergic reaction occurs.
– Don’t use Penicillin V in severe infections of respiratory (such as severe pneumonia).
– Nursing mothers
Interaction
Avoid concomitant use with Neomycin. This combination will reduce the absorption of Penicillin V.
Shelf life
36 months from the manufacturing date.
Storage
Store in a dry place, not exceeding 30oC. Protect from light.
Dosage
– Children: 10,000 – 50,000 IU/kg/day.
– Adults: 2 – 4 M.IU/day in 2 – 3 divided doses.
